Attracting Love – The DNA Way
Imagine signing up on an online dating website and included in its fees, you receive a DNA collection kit in the mail, which includes a pack of sterilized cotton swabs. After rubbing the inside of your mouth with the swabs you send them back in a pre-addressed envelope with a customer number being the only link to your identity.
The idea is that if you’re looking for love online, you can now find your perfect match based on DNA. No longer do you have to list your hobbies and favorite books.
Dating sites are claiming that they can now find your perfect match based on DNA. Numerous studies have revealed that chemistry, in particular body odor, plays a big part in the art of attraction, but such physical chemistry is usually impossible to identify when searching for partners online.
Dating sites such as ScientificMatch and sense2love.com say they can bring chemical attraction back into the mix to increase the chances of finding someone genetically compatible with your DNA.
Once you send in your swab, the computer system generates the matches and is the only thing that ever links the two together. The DNA sample is then destroyed after it has been analyzed.
The analysis of your swab takes about two weeks. You are then presented with your matches and you choose which ones you are interested in and are free to make contact with them and arrange to meet up.
The Pros
- You will be matched with someone who has a body odor you’ll like – good for the fun between the sheets.
- If you want babies, your will have a more robust immune system is you use this system.
- You will have a more satisfying sex life – less cheating, higher rate of fertility and this is the bit I like: women will experience a higher rate of orgasms. Send the kit please!
The Cons
- The system doesn’t work for women who are on birth control pills (is that why the fertility rate is higher?)
- Claims are backed up by peer review article – but, what no actual studies carried out?
- It won’t work for people not raised by their natural parents early in life. Excuse me – does my DNA change because someone else raised me. No good for me then, I still don’t know who my biological father is. Oh by the way, the study for that claim was done on mice.
The Big “Oh by the way”:
“Although the science can be compelling, ScientificMatch admits that physical chemistry alone is not enough to guarantee a successful relationship, or even attraction. For this reason the site doesn’t rely solely on DNA analysis to find matches, but also makes use of those online dating standards or personality profiles and personal preferences when looking for matches”
If you have a good sense of humor, you’ve got to love that remark! Basically what they are saying is that they do the same as all the other online dating sites but they add in the DNA swab – which increases the price of course – $2000.00 for lifetime membership and actually they are saying there is no guarantee that this works!
Ok, to be fair there is a guarantee – you may have to wait a lifetime to find your partner the DNA way.
To me this is just another gimmick in the love and dating niche designed to put your hopes up, help you eagerly part with your money, only to disappoint you, disillusion you, make you feel worse about yourself – only to make you reach out for the next gimmick. No wonder it’s a multi-million dollar industry! The industry wins – you lose.
Einstein defined insanity as: “doing more of the same and expecting a different outcome”
You deserve to be happy, you deserve to find love. If you’ve been falling for the dating advice gimmicks and found they don’t work, Isn’t it time you tried something different?
