Life Is Like A Box Of Chocolate

You just never know I keep saying.  Whoever thought I’d be picking up a French man from the airport just before New Year’s eve someone I met almost a year ago on a cruise.  I had no idea what to expect on the cruise last year.  I just knew that my mentor Nicola Cairncross of  The Money Gym was going on the cruise as well as 280 other Internet Marketers – what the hell I thought, I’m always up for a new adventure.

Fabrice was the first person I met in the waiting area before going on board the ship.  I happened to sit down next to him and his other three fitness pals and cracked some joke about his big muscly arms, had a quick squeeze of his biceps and thought nothing of it.  I had no idea he was to be part of the group I was going to meet later that evening!

It was easy not to take this good looking man too serious – he was a body builder after all and I had my stereotype ideas of bodybuilders being “all body and no brains” so I just knew nothing more would come out of this brief chance meeting – for me it was just a few fun moments in time.

I got to know Fabrice better during the cruise and realised he didn’t fit the stereotype and we ended up getting on suprisingly well . . .

After the cruise we headed our own ways and I didn’t think more of it, except about how a nice suprise came about because I was open to a new adventure of going on a cruise with several hundred “geeks” (they were awesome people!) and because I was willing to let go of my stereotype.  What a good lesson.

Well here we are building a strong friendship and supporting each other with our online businesses.  One problem we both have is that we love food, so we keep findng excuses to go out to nice restaurants and eat and just don’t seem to fit in more gym time – oh well!

Even if I never saw Fabrice again – it’s been one of life’s unexpected pleasurable moments that I will be able to look back on with a smle.  And maybe there is another lesson about “going with the flow,”  being in the moment and letting go of the outcome.  Like Forrest Gump said in the movie – “Life is like a box of chocolate – you never know what you’ll get.”

Hope you enjoy this short clip of his arrival and our lovely meal in an Italian restaurant.  Whew, the Frenchman enjoyed the food!
