The A-Z Guide For Successful Singles – “P” is for . . .
What do Superman, Spiderman, Batman, the X-men, and the Incredible Hulk have in common? It’s easy, right? Yes, they all have supernatural powers – special abilities that make them supreme, invincible and indestructible.
Have you ever envied a superhero for having supernatural powers? I think in some way we probably all have at some point in time – even if we only wished we had a magic wand. Just imagine how cool and fascinating it would be to become invisible even for just a minute or two – to fly across mountains and seas, to climb tall buildings and walls, to create fire or ice depending on what the situation needs, to defeat evil or or to simply have that special physical strength to be able to do things that normal people can’t do.
But “alas”, you say – “Get Real Susanne, we’re real people in the real world and we can never possess any of these supernatural physical powers”
Ok, I agreee with you, but even if we can never possess supernatural powers – what if I could convince you that we still do have something in common with those ‘superheroes’?
I want you to try to add a character to that list of superheroes – this time, a real person, say you, me, your teacher, my next-door neighbor, or simply anyone who exists in this world. The list would now be like this: Superman, Spiderman, Batman, the X-men, the Incredible Hulk, and you.
Again, I want to ask you the same question: What could be the common factor among those in the list? Remember, it includes you now. So before answering, you might ask another question first. Is there really something we all possess?
Believe it or not there is. The common denominator between a superhero and a real person like you and me is power.
The power we humans have is even greater than any other supernatral power. What we have is a power that builds reality and not mere imagination and it’s a power which we all possess, irregardless of class, color, gender or race – a power which can make us all a hero in our own way
“There’s a hero, if you look inside yourself…
You don’t have to be afraid of who you are…..”
Mariah Carey
As humans, who live in the real world, the power that we have – though not a supernatural power - is the power of the mind. What we have is the power to mold our personality, to shape our future, to create our destiny, to determine who and what we are and to make a difference in the world.
Isn’t that why we love stories about ordinary people who have achieved extraordinary accomplishments? It reminds us of this thing called ‘human potential.’ Mariah Carey’s well known song “Hero” reminds us of that potential that sits within each of us .
But isn’t it ironic how we tend to be so addicted to looking outside ourselves, rather than within ourselves?
We are so afraid to look inward because we might not be happy with what we could see. We make our lives so hectic that we eliminate the slightest risk of looking into ourselves. We settle on observing things outside of ourselves, of listening to the many messsages that bombard us of who we should be. We make comparisons, judgments, and evaluations which only lead us in concluding and, worse, accepting the fact that we are inferior to others.
What we don’t know is that we have the power to reverse what the outside world makes us believe in. If it says that we are wrong, we have the power to make us right. If it says we are losers, we have the power to be winners.
The mind generates thoughts, both positive and negative thoughts and thoughts that either empower and disempower us.
Our thoughts become our reality and that is what lies in the power of our thinking. Thoughts shape our future and create our destiny – different thoughts bringing different results.
“Change Your Thoughts and Change Your Life”
Brian Tracy
If you aren’t happy with where you are in your life – start with thinking about how you are thinking about it. If you want to change your life, then, as Brian Tracy says, ‘Change Your Thinking’. To do this isn’t dependent on genetics, background or history. It’s down to a choice. There are three steps:
- Awareness
Are you aware of what goes on inside your head? Most people I work with aren’t aware. In my therapy and coaching practice clients are often amazed at what goes on in their heads when they start becoming consciously aware. Once they realise how they think, they then realise why they are where they are in their lives. You can’t change what you aren’t aware of.
- Choose Your Thinking
Are are you consciously choosing what you feed your brain or are you allowing everything and anything in?
Imagine that deep down inside you believe and keep telling yourself “No one will love me”. How far down the road of relationship success will that kind of thinking take you? if you want to find true love, you have to become aware of how you think and then choose that you want to change the way you think.
- Make Your New Thinking A Habit
Practice feeding your mind thoughts you choose. Model the thinking patterns of successful people. Read books that help you practice and master your thoughts. Invest in yourself. Get the new thinking in your muscle. After awhile these new thoughts will become part of who you are!

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure”

Where are you from? Is it a secret?
Thanks
