Dating Fit For a Prince
Prince Harry is in the news again today, but for non-controversial reasons this time – after it’s been reported that he took his girlfriend Chelsy Davy to exclusive restaurant Julie’s in Holland Park for a Valentines Day treat. A great way to treat a loved one, if you can afford it!
But for those among us who haven’t got the disposable income to splash out quite that lavishly when impressing a partner on a date, we sometimes have to be a little more creative! If you can’t afford to blow hundreds of your hard-earned cash on the wine-list alone, then it’s time to brainstorm more innovative ways to take a partner out in style. And while you’re at it, it’s a good idea to come up with something that will ease the pressure and give you plenty to talk about – especially if it’s a dread-inspiring first date!
So think about activities less pressured than the face-to-face and alone-with-one-another experience of dinner dating.
Get physical
If your potential partner is an active type, sports and physical activities can be great fun, and can really show a different side to people. Ice skating, rollerblading, dance-classes – even sharing your light morning jog can be a great way to get to know somebody as you both share the common goal of completing an activity without clumsily falling over!
Get intellectual
Show a deeper side to yourself by suggesting a museum visit. If you already know from exchanges on a dating website or through information passed on by friends that you both share common ground on a topic – be it historical, artistic or literary – a journey to a gallery or a museum will give you plenty to talk about outside of the usual ‘favourite colour’, ‘family history’ stuff.
Be entertained
And if you’re really nervous about how you’re going to carry off the art of conversation, then there’s always the practical option of an activity where you don’t even have to speak until afterwards! Stand up comedy is always an excellent choice as laughing together always gets those endorphins and the positivity pumping. A theatre visit suggestion will show a cultured side to your outlook, whilst the cinema is, if slightly old hat, undeniably a great option if you feel you’ll need something outside of one another to discuss in the aftermath of the movie.
Whatever you choose to do, the important thing is that you think of something you’re both going to enjoy. After all, if the other party has fun, they’ll think of you in a positive light – which is a great platform for grabbing yourself another date, even if you can’t shell out for a meal for two at Julie’s.
